Cataglyphis pallida like most species of this genus are desert ants that occupy some of the harshest landscapes on the planet. They are built to tolerate high temperatures that will kill most prey.

Once the desert sun has killed off insects who could not seek shelter these guys will come up from inside their nests and clean up and feed on this resource.

Deserts can also be a cold place at night so they are also adapted to cooler temperatures that deserts offer once the sun has set.

What makes these species unique is their stunning colourations they have evolved to perfectly adapt to the colours of the desert sand making them almost invisible to any predator. Their colourations are truly stunning.

There are found geographically in the east such as place like Iraq, Mongolia, China and Russia.
