Lasius Alienus with 5-10 workers (Starter kit) Foreign garden ant
Lasius Alienus has the nickname the foreign garden ant. This is a great starter species and semi exotic species. They have bigger colonies than Lasius niger and can reach a population of 10,000 in as little as 3 years they are a fast growing species.
They look similar to Niger however the queens are more of a silky brown and workers appear dark brown and have a different thorax shape compared to Niger.
Queen size: 8-9mm dark brown - black
Workers size: 2-4mm darkbrown
Food: honey water and insects
Founding: clasutral without feeding
Colonysize: 1-40,000 workers
Hibernation: 4-5 months at 5-9°C
I have been growing and raising ant colonies for well over 5 years and always want to share the hobby!
If ant colonies die during transportation a replacement will be sent free, photographic evidence required
An excellent hobby watch how the colony grows and works to expand and feed the mighty queen, they will share all their secrets with you, Enjoy!
