Formica (Serviformica) lemani Queen with brood or workers (Starter kit)
Formica (Serviformica) lemani generally nest about 1000m above sea level in the wild, like all formica they have the ability to spray formic acid if they are stressed. This species is rarer than their close cousins formica fusca. This species is often found as a slave ant for formica sanginae or Polygerus rufescens which conduct raids and steal their brood.
Queen size: 10-12mm black with silver shine
Workers size: 3-6mm Black with a silver shine!
Food: honey water and insects and seeds
Founding: claustral without feeding
Colonysize: 1-10,000 workers
Hibernation: November until end of February at 15°C
